This global automotive components manufacturer is Midwest based and continues its double-digit sales growth. From a single site in 2004 this US firm now operates 10 plants mainly in North America and Europe. The parent continues to eye strategic acquisitions while organic growth successes include a continuing string of new contract awards. The western Michigan location is the 2nd largest plant and the leading plant for advanced technologically. This role leads all maintenance functions for the site and includes capital project responsibilities for installation/start up of new equipment and automation. The Maintenance Manager leads multiple supervisors and a growing team of 25+ non-union skilled trades. From this position a dual career path is possible into either technical leadership or a shift to operations leadership. The Plant Manager at this site built his early career upon successes in maintenance leadership.
Our client requires a Bachelors degree, preferably from an Engineering discipline, but other majors will be considered. Candidates must have at least 10 years experience in manufacturing/operations roles with at least 3 years leading a maintenance function. Prior experience with Total Productive Maintenance is desirable. Experience within an established preventive/predictive maintenance culture is required. As our client is a strong advocate of lean manufacturing principles, prior exposure/experience with lean is required. Individuals must have prior experience with leading new equipment installation and startup activities. Automotive experience is desirable, however, experience is required within a high volume manufacturing environment. Some experience with metal fabrication or machining is required. The client appreciates broadening experience from roles such as quality engineering, program management, supply chain, lean leadership, or production management. Superior communications skills are required to effective deal with other plant level functions and to effectively mentor/develop the maintenance team.
