Our client is a $2+ billion manufacturer of engineered industrial/commercial products with both North American and international facilities. This firm is debt-free, acquisition oriented, and committed to world class deployment of lean/TPS. Its Chicago area site currently generates $20 mil in revenues, but has opportunities to expand its products/services by 50%. Reporting to a General Manager, the role of Operations Manager is key to successfully drive business improvement and capacity expansion. The position leads manufacturing, planning, and supply chain functions for the site with the charter to drive lean transformation, improve metrics, and cultivate a customer focused environment. The position is viewed as a 2-year developmental role for ascension into greater operations or general management leadership responsibilities.
Our client requires a Bachelors degree, Engineering or Technical disciplines preferred, and an MBA or substantial progress toward MBA attainment. Individuals must have at least eight years manufacturing experience, including prior operations management. Functional breadth is important to this client, requiring prior roles in other functions such as Supply Chain, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, etc. Individuals must have prior experience driving lean initiatives which include 5S, standardized work, value stream mapping, visual factory, cellular concepts, kanban replenishment, etc. Experience with metal working, metal fabrication processes is preferred. This role develops/mentors/coaches professionals - team building and superior communication skills are paramount for success and advancement.
